TUCSON, Arizona – After a year-long hiatus due to COVID-19, the NPMA Academy returned for a face-to-face event in July. Nearly 200 industry professionals traveled to Tucson, Arizona for three days with team building activities, training, and networking opportunities.
Sponsored by Corteva Agriscience as premier, this year’s event was an opportunity for NPMA members “to reconnect with colleagues and industry friends for the first time since the pandemic,” said Rachel Dittman, vice president of Marketing & Communications. NPMA. “The energy and excitement of the participants was incredible!”
NPMA’s Leadership Networking Community (LNC) developed unique hands-on networking opportunities and booked leading business / management moderators Janine Driver and Garland Vance.
Vance is the founder of AdVance Leadership, which helps overwhelmed influencers and organizations to live with purpose, productivity and peace. During his presentation, he shares three of the most common leadership mistakes and how to avoid them:
• Mistake number 1: failure to provide clarity
• Mistake number 2: Bless busyness
• Mistake number 3: Not believing that your leadership is important
Driver, a former federal police officer with the Justice Department, shared her reading skills with people. She gave insights into reading emotions and body language, skills that can improve leadership skills.
Another highlight was The Professional Women in Pest Management (PWIPM), which hosted a half-day yoga workshop, during which the participants were able to recharge their bodies, mind and soul before the start of the official Academy events.
In addition, the NPMA Academy collected 415 children’s books and pajamas for donation to the Angel Heart Pajama Project in Tucson, Arizona.
