The following restaurants in Cumberland County violated Pennsylvania health and safety regulations during inspections between October 17th and October 23rd.

The controls are supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture. The department notes that in many cases violations are corrected by the restaurant before the inspectors leave.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites

– The overall condition of the facility was untidy with noticeable leftover food on the floor. The manager claims they have a busy lunch hour and have not cleaned them up yet. Food scraps have also been observed on the wall near the trash can where it looks like grocers throw food in the trash can but bump against the wall. This area must be clean to prevent cross-contamination of the food preparation area. In addition, the trash can should have a lid.

– The outer door at the rear of the facility has an air gap on the lower threshold plate that allows pests to enter the building. The doors must be sealed to protect the food prep / service area.

– A grocer was observed in the food preparation area who was not wearing real haircuffs such as hairnets or hats. The manager claims he will buy hats for his employees to correct this nonconformity.

–The insect light trap that is in the back room is properly placed but saturated with dead insects upon inspection on October 19th. The manager corrected this discrepancy on October 22nd by replacing the glue board with a new unit.
