Is Your Home Safe From Termite Problems?
The desert is full of creatures of all kinds, and one thing in particular can cost you a lot of money. It’s high season for termites and the pests are trying to eat their way through your home.
Urban Desert Pest Control experts recommend walking around your home looking for termite tubes that have clung to the walls protruding from the ground.

They look like packed strands of dirt, but it really is a passage for termites to work their way up out of the ground and move the wood they mine back to the colony from your home.
You can see them near the front porch, back patio, in the garage, and even look for wooden handles on garden tools.
Chad Little says the biggest mistake homeowners make is ignoring the problem. He says one tube is as bad as 15 tubes.
“The worst thing they could do would be structural damage. I mean, they consume joists and compromise the integrity of a wall or the entire house, ”Little said.
He says all new homes should be pretreated before construction and then you should call an expert every five years to update the treatment.
Termites can also hide in sight in your neighborhood and cover a bouquet of tubes in dry brushes on empty properties. If you discover a cluster, you should check with the homeowners association for your neighborhood.
