Top tips for the weekend: Ice skating is back, so there are free turkeys for military families


CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Thanksgiving is just around the corner and some anticipated events will be held again this weekend to kick off the holiday season.

Winter ice in the Downtown Commons: Ice skating will reopen this Saturday at 4 p.m. $ 12 Adults / $ 10 Children, 12 and under, Government / Military / APSU Students. This is an on-going event that takes place on Thursdays and Fridays from 4pm to 9pm; Saturdays 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sundays 2-9 p.m. The opening times vary on public holidays, during the school holidays and on special occasions. Ice skates are included in the ticket price.

Turkeys for troops: Military families can come to the James Corlew Chevrolet parking lot on Saturday for their free turkey. 1,500 turkeys are given away from 8 a.m., but the turkeys are usually gone by noon, so get there as soon as possible.

Holiday market: On Saturday and Sunday, the Old Glory Distilling Company has a Christmas market filled with stalls selling everything you would give away for the holidays. Come by on both days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will also be craft cocktails. Admission costs 1 euro for adults, children are free.

Bash to Profit: This fundraiser for the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation with dueling pianos, silent auction and heavy hors d’oeuvres takes place on Friday from 6:00 p.m. at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center. Tickets are $ 150, and VIP tickets and tables are available from Eventbrite.
